On the weekend of 3-5 October, Livingston Church presented its seventh Bible in Bloom flower festival. Starting 18 years ago in 2007, Bible in Bloom runs every three years on a different theme and supporting a different charity. This year our theme was “Promises and Praise from the Book of Psalms” and the charity we supported was Asian Aid. The Sabbath church service complements the theme. Pr Andrew Skeggs sermon on the Book of Psalms can be viewed on the Livingston YouTube channel “@LivoCommunity”.

Bible in Bloom is a wonderful opportunity to bring God’s Word to life in a truly unique and imaginative way. Over the years, many of the designers have expressed how studying their Bible verse and working out how they will interpret it, proves to be a real, and sometimes unexpected, spiritual blessing. I can also testify to the many, many times God has shown us that this is His event - from small, seemingly insignificant “coincidences”, to preparing things He knew we needed well in advance.

On Sabbath and Sunday afternoons the event was open to the public to view the 13 stunning floral arrangements and then relax in the café afterwards. Many church members invited their friends, neighbours and work colleagues along – an extremely easy way to share your faith! All those who came through were truly blessed and inspired by what they saw and, as always, our Visitor Page was full of appreciation for the event.

From the café proceeds and donations we raised $700 for the excellent work of Asian Aid - an outstanding Christian organisation that is committed to alleviating poverty by providing children with educational opportunities and promoting the holistic development of communities.

We would love to see Bible in Bloom run in other SDA churches around WA. If you are interested in putting on an event like this in your church, please get in touch with us at Livingston - we would be delighted to help!
