Information Collection Notice –
New Employees

1. The Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd collects personal information, including sensitive information about new employees before and during the course of their employment. This may be in writing or in the course of conversations. The primary purpose of collecting this information is to enable Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd to facilitate and administer your involvement with the organisation.

2. Some of the information Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd collects is to satisfy its legal obligations, including its workplace health and safety duty of care.

3. Laws governing or relating to child protection require certain information to be collected and disclosed.

4. In order to place you on the payroll as an employee of Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd, you consent to our collecting personal information about you from law enforcement agencies for criminal checks and working with children checks, and educational institutions to verify your qualifications.

5. The personal information we collect about you will be stored securely in the organisation's payroll and HR records.

6. Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd may disclose personal and sensitive information for administrative, educational and support purposes (or may permit the information to be directly collected by third parties). This may include to:

  • Government departments;

  • Third party service providers that provide online applications (apps), which may include email and instant messaging;

  • People providing administrative, financial and/or insurance services to Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd;

  • Anyone you authorise Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd to disclose information to; and

  • Anyone to whom Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd is required or authorised to disclose the information to by law, including under child protection laws.

7. Failure to provide this information will present an unacceptable risk to Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd and we may not proceed with our relationship with you.

8. Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd may also use cloud computing service providers to store personal information (which may include sensitive information) on their servers in the 'cloud'. These servers may be located in or outside Australia. This may mean that personal information may be stored or processed outside Australia. The policy sets out how individuals may seek access to, and correction of their personal information which Seventh-day Adventist Church (Western Australian Conference) Ltd has collected and holds.
