Joy at the Finish Line: Reflections from the Moora Triathlon

The Moora Triathlon is a much-anticipated annual event that brings energy and excitement to the town of Moora. This year’s triathlon, held on a fresh and early Sunday morning, drew over 110 participants, with support from both locals and visitors from Perth and surrounding communities. Organised by the dedicated Moora Triathlon Committee, with valuable assistance from the Shire of Moora and local sponsors, the event offered something for everyone. Catering to all ages and fitness levels, it included a Fun Course, Short Course, Sprint Course, and a Fun Run.

A triathlon is more than just a physical challenge. With its swim, cycle, and run stages, it demands endurance, focus, and perseverance.

In many ways, it reflects the Christian walk - long, steady, and marked by moments of struggle, growth, and faith. It’s not about speed, but about pressing on and trusting God through every stage.

Members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Moora joined the race again this year, alongside fellow Adventists who travelled from Perth to take part. On the Sabbath before the event, some shared how they expected to feel at the finish, hoping for pride, a sense of achievement, or simple exhaustion. But after the race, most described feeling “relieved,” “happy,” “great,” and “fantastic.”

It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that awaits us at the end of our spiritual race. One day, when we stand face to face with Jesus, it will be like crossing the finish line of the most important journey of our lives, but infinitely more rewarding. In that moment, every challenge will make sense, and every sacrifice will be worth it. We will be filled with joy, peace, and the overwhelming love of the One who ran with us all along.
