Parenting Children and Teens for a Life of Faith

On January 31 and February 1,2025, parents and ministry leaders gathered for two inspiring Parenting for Faith events. Hosted at Landsdale Christian School and North Perth Church, these events marked the first stop on the Australian Union Conference’s national Family Ministries Roadshow. It featured UK-based speaker Rachel Turner, founder and author of the Parenting for Faith series.

Rachel encouraged attendees to move beyond raising children who are simply “God smart,” and instead nurture children and teens who walk closely with God in everyday life. She shared practical strategies for creating a home environment where faith can naturally grow throughout the week, not just on Sabbath.

Rachel’s key insights included:

  • Creating windows into your own relationship with God

  • Framing the world to help children see where God is at work

  • Unwinding distorted views of God to foster a healthy spiritual understanding

  • Helping children connect directly with God by chatting with Him and recognising His voice

Spotting spiritual 'waves'-those moments of interest and passion - and supporting children as they respond to God’s prompting

Many parents expressed how empowered and equipped they felt to disciple their children more intentionally.

Rachel Turner’s books are available from the Adventist Book Centre, and the Parenting for Faith website offers free, practical resources for parents and caregivers.
