Karla Bidjar Plans in Action

Following a break over the summer period the Karla Bidjar building planning team have been working on the short and long term building strategy for the new building in Midland. The plan comprises of a phased approach that allows for the building to be used in the short term for worship and community services while planning ahead for a future building project on the site.

The first phase has made provisions to ensure that the building is compliant once again for use. This has included filling in the old vehicle inspection pits, electrical upgrades and plumbing repairs. A new fence will be installed and disabled toilets added to the site before services will begin.

Discussions have also included how to effectively use this site as an Aboriginal Cultural centre that encompasses; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork and therapy, cultural weaving, local indigenous language, bush medicine and foods. Other activities include a mothers play group, health training and biblical studies.

Please pray for the Karla Bidjar Planning team as they continue to spend time working on a long term building strategy that will be effective in providing a good space that not only serves the Aboriginal and Torres Island people in Perth but also glorifies God in its presence in the Midland community.
