Service Rally - Midland Meals

Australia has over 115,000 homeless people. Western Australia has over 9000. Midland Meals is doing an awesome job feeding many homeless people every night of the week.

In August, the young people of WA decided to join in. The annual ‘Service Rally’ saw over 100 youth worshipping together in the morning, enjoying a fantastic lunch together, and then the service began:

  • One team cooked up a storm with over 35 casserole dishes.

  • Another team baked cookies all afternoon and attached an encouraging note for the recipients.

  • Two different groups went collecting food from donors both private and corporate.

  • Another group boxed up clothes to be sold in an op-shop for the day in Midland. They worked alongside the lady (in her 70’s) who has this as her mission.

  • There was another group putting lollies in bags to be handed out.

  • In Midland and Ellenbrook, two groups helped to hand out meals to homeless people.

  • Other young people were sitting on the kerb chatting to those eating the meals.

Throughout the afternoon and evening there were 90 young people involved in service, all revolving around Midland Meals.
